Green Funerals
Green funerals are all about keeping things as simple, natural and beautiful as possible - returning to nature in a way that will not harm the environment, but will actually preserve the landscape and enhance opportunities for wildlife – it's about leaving the world a better place.
What's the appeal?- Here in South East Wales, we have two of the most scenic and peaceful natural burial grounds in the UK - Usk Castle Chase and Cardiff & The Vale natural burial grounds - special places to celebrate nature and life. The use of the land for burials makes as little impact on the surroundings as possible so that the natural beauty of the place is always maintained. Each site is very different and has its own atmosphere, features and individual appeal.
Why go green?
There are so many good reasons for choosing a natural funeral...
- Because you care for the environment
- Simple natural, earth-friendly materials, which make the minimum impact on wildlife habitats, indigenous plants and the landscape for the future.
- Because you love the countryside
- A peaceful countryside setting; an uplifting, wild and beautiful place - a perfect place to rest in peace.
- Because the pure quality is outstanding
- The pure quality of the landscape, the hand-crafted coffins and natural materials are superb - the occasion will be truly memorable.
- Something different
- You don't want the standard funeral service or a plot in the municipal cemetery.
- A thoughtful decision
- Many people find planning their funeral a liberating experience, allowing them to concentrate on the future, family and friends.
- Freedom of choice
- There are no restrictions on your choice of ceremony
- Privacy and time
- You don't want to be next in line in a queue, with tight time constraints - make the burial ground your own personal space for the event

CARDIFF & THE VALE
Situated on the western edge of Cardiff at the top of the Tumble above Culverhouse Cross, the Cardiff and The Vale natural burial ground has superb views across Cardiff (with glimpses of the Millenium Stadium between the trees), around towards St Fagans, Castell Coch, Caerphilly, the Garth Mountain and beyond.

This really is a special place to visit, spend time and contemplate—close to the city, but away from it all.

USK CASTLE CHASE
The meadow at Usk Castle Chase has something special about it... It's not just a special setting with scenic views of beautiful countryside, but it is itself an important and historic part of that landscape. Set in 14 acres of open meadow in the heart of Monmouthshire, and surrounded on three sides by mature woodland, Usk Castle Chase is a natural amphitheatre - the contours and woodland forming the arena and the scenic views provide the theatre.

A truly peaceful and uplifting natural place for reflection and remembrance.
